Tracy La stands in the shade of trees in a park.

Tracy La is a nonprofit director and county commissioner running for Garden Grove Unified School District Trustee Area 4 to ensure every student, teacher, and staff member in our schools feels supported, heard, and prepared to succeed.

Meet Tracy

As a nonprofit director and county commissioner, Tracy La works every day with Garden Grove Unified students and families across Trustee Area 4 – including those in Garden Grove, West Santa Ana, Westminster, and Fountain Valley. Tracy is dedicated to fighting for accessible and quality public education, whether that’s by investing in improved classrooms and facilities, expanding student resources, or promoting responsibility in district governance.

Tracy is the proud product of public schools and was the first in her family to go to college, which gave her the skills to build a nonprofit from the ground up and propel her career in public service. In her role as a nonprofit leader, Tracy spearheaded the development of youth education programs and key efforts to support working families — including the passage of the Santa Ana rent stabilization ordinance, which was achieved by organizing with Vietnamese senior mobile home residents.

Tracy currently serves on the OC Housing & Community Development Commission and is Advisory Council Chair for the OC Immigrant & Refugee Liberty Fund. She previously served as Chair of the Santa Ana Rental Housing Board, a member of the City of Westminster Little Saigon Blueprint for Investment Advisory Committee, and a member of the OC Registrar of Voters Language Accessibility Advisory Committee.

Tracy’s Priorities

Invest in high-quality classrooms and school facilities

Tracy will fight for investments to improve school facilities, keep classroom sizes small, and ensure GGUSD schools are places where students are set up for success. Whether they’re interested in pursuing a college degree or exploring vocational education, all GGUSD students deserve schools where they have the opportunity to jumpstart their careers.

Expand student resources and opportunities

Tracy will fight to ensure GGUSD schools remain places of safety, stability, and opportunity for students, families, and staff. As Trustee, Tracy will advocate for much-needed expansions to mental health and basic needs support so that all students have what they need to succeed — whether they live in Garden Grove, West Santa Ana, Westminster, or Fountain Valley.

Ensure accountability and transparency

As GGUSD Trustee, Tracy will fight for accountability and transparency in GGUSD’s fiscal resources. Tracy is dedicated to guaranteeing that every dollar spent goes towards strengthening the quality of public education at GGUSD schools, including through robust investments to improve facilities and to support teachers and classified staff.
